Often when we witness the vast spaces of the natural world we might gaze through binoculars or telescopes, feeling a sense of awe and wonder. But the landscape can quickly become another object to be viewed and so this separation arises between person and nature.

Today, most of us live in urban environments and we experience the landscape from a distance; mediate by television and technology, it remains out of reach. 

Stars wants to address this distance by drawing the viewer directly into the heart of a rich and textured forest which offers both mystery and the potential for exploration. In Stars, we can appreciate the fragility of our relationship with the natural world. Each image created links the forest landscape with the greatest unknown of all, the universe.

Through this, Davies brings to light a profound and electrifying contrast between the luscious physicality of the forest and its inherent otherness.
