Man Walking Past Parking Lot

Man Walking Past Parking Lot

Beschreibung

Taking on an unusual perspective for his oeuvre, a bird's eye view, Ormerod captures the elegant mundane: a man walking past a parking lot.

With a briefcase tucked under his arm, he might be walking to a meeting, or away from work. The long shadows imply the sun has past the yardarm, but as with any of Ormerod's depictions of his subject matter, there is no such thing as certainty.

His work subverts traditional American icons. A white picket fence is staved in, a huge billboard for Miss Teen Dakota USA stands next to an empty highway.

Inverting the famous Hollywood sign, Ormerod photographs a Texaco sign from the back, dominating the empty, Western landscape.
