It seems contradictory that to produce colour you need to work in the dark. You blindly feel your way around the paper with your hands. You use light only to place the mark where your mind’s eye tells you.

You rely on gut feeling rather than what you know. This allows you to break free of any working rhythm you are comfortable with and forces you to explore your senses.” M G Jackson
